Chun & Shafiq
As we're getting ready to launch a whole new website to mark the New Year, we've been spending a lot of time looking through our 2007 images. And we realized that we got so busy this year that there were a lot of weddings and events that we just didn't have time to blog about. So, in an effort to make up for that, I'm going to try and catch up in the next few days.
We're starting off with Chun and Shafiq. This was a wedding celebration that was full of unique tradition and lasted 5 days. We were only there for one of the days, but even just that day was rich with details and the bringing together of two very different traditions. And though they were exhausted from the lack of sleep the previous few nights, Chun and Shafiq never lost sight of the fact that their celebrations brought their families together in appreciation of each others' cultures and that they were truly meant to be together as husband and wife.
Chun had two outfits on this day (I'm sure there were many more over the entire celebration), a "western" style white dress and a gorgeous dress that reflects her culture. Shafiq as well had two very different outfits to compliment Chun's.
Here are all the girls in their first outfit of the day:

One of the most amazing and touching things happened at this wedding - there are a series of events that take place at the bride's house that culminate with the bride's family walking her out of her home and saying goodbye to her. I'm not going to post any of the images out of respect for the emotions involved, but watching the level of emotion that literally poured from her father's eyes was one of the most spectacular things I have ever seen.
After leaving the house, we stopped at a salon where the girls got changed into their western outfits, and then headed out for photos. I love this image of Chun getting into her dress:
Some portraits:
Doesn't she look beautiful?
This is one of my favourites - I just love the way they so engaged with each other:
Once we finished our very quick portrait session, we headed to the reception which was held in the Atrium at the Law Courts. The theme was Paris and the details were impeccable:

And, finally, the first dance. It is always fantastic when you can use the videographer's light to create a dramatic first dance image:
Congratulations to you both! I hope you are loving New York!
